U-Mass. Students Vote 2-1 to Overturn Marijuana Prohibition

University of Massachusetts students voted 1977 to 983 to declare all laws prohibiting the use of marijuana null and void in a nonbinding initiative placed on the student government ballot this March (Cate Chant, "Students at UMass Vote 2-1 for Pot," Boston Globe, 3/12/93). The turnout was double the usual turnout for such referenda, according to the Globe.
